Where to Cruise in July

July is peak season: summer holidays across Europe, the warmest weather in the north and the fullest ships. The choice is huge — as long as you decide early.

The short answer: the Mediterranean for beaches and swimming; the Norwegian fjords and the Baltic for the warmest days of the northern summer; Alaska for the most stable weather. Summer holiday weeks fill up first — more in our guide on when to book a summer cruise.

What is special about July

  • Summer holidays. Schools across Europe are off, and family cabins are the first to go. Decide early.
  • Heat in the south. In the Mediterranean, plan excursions for the morning and take water with you.
  • Mild in the north. For anyone who does not like heat, the fjords and the Baltic are the pleasant alternative.
  • Hurricane season in the Caribbean. From June to November the Caribbean is quieter, but routes can change at short notice.

No flight needed

The summer school holidays are the busiest time in Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Hamburg: weekly fjord cruises and longer trips to Iceland, the Baltic and the British Isles.

Booking a July cruise with points

Every way of paying in the club also works for sailings in July that are available in the club. You choose one per booking: the member price (INsider Pricing), roughly 17% below the listed price, or your Reward Points, which can cover up to half of the cruise price; they do not add up. To pay up to 100% with points, the booking must be made at least 270 days before departure — for a cruise in July, that is roughly October or early November of the year before — and you need to have accumulated enough points by then.
